Male Model In Oils - Part 2
Tonight's class involved refining the painting, adding depth and contour to the body. I was quite pleased with the result achieved on the model's right arm and legs. I found the left arm, with its forshortening, to be quite a challenge and in need of more work and refinement. Our instructor explained that working with the negative space surrounding the arm would allow our eye to see the arm in a different light - hence the splash of burgundy.Challenges - the proportion and angle of left arm and not mixing enough paint-again.Rewarding - contours and shadows of the right arm and leg.I am thoroughly enjoying working with the human form and find myself eager to paint more. Volunteers anyone?

Such an interesting perspective to see the progress of your work as opposed to simply the final product. I will have to admit to not always understanding an artist's work so much as simmply appreciating the colour or appearance of what I see in front of me. However, your postings are now offering me a chance to understand your creative process and I am finding myself learning more about your world of artistry. Thanks for the opportunity, my friend. Lord knows my talents best lie on a keyboard, but it is always inspiring to see another's creative work.
Hi Trisha :)
I really like the way b&w oil painting of the woman with necklace is coming along! Wow! :)
